In remembrance of the September 11 attacks, the Tribute in Light, an art installation of 88 searchlights, was created in 2002 and placed next to the World Trade Center site. When illuminated at night the lights are visible up to 60 miles away. Usually, the light show is run on the anniversary of the attack. Tomorrow, the 10th anniversary of the attacks, the Tribute in Light will be turned on at dusk until tomorrow at dawn.
