Sculptures by Haroshi created from recycled skateboard decks

Looking at these sculptural pieces I’d never have guessed that they were composed of old, broken, or abandoned skateboards! The Japanese artist Haroshi builds up these colorful pixelated pieces by layering and slicing parts from the reclaimed decks of skateboards,

A few days ago, the artist and also longtime skateboarder, opened an exhibit at a distribution center for streetwear manufacturer HUF in Los Angeles. The show features a fire hydrant, a full length arm, an enormous skateboard wheel, a playable guitar, and an unfinished dog head. The dog sculpture is especially riveting because the back was left unfinished with the jagged edges sticking out revealing the original material. These works are on display as part of the HUF x Haroshi x DLX collab collection at 545 S. Clarence St., Los Angeles, CA 90033
