I love these hyper-expressive portraits by French painter Françoise Nielly. Filled with fluorescent colors and bold strokes, some faces appear gripped by anxiety, some are hiding secrets, some want to strike-out at the next person they see.
Nielly lives and works near Montmartre in Paris and just finished her latest exhibition at the Villa del Arte in Barcelona. About her work, Nielly says, “… all of that classical imagery of South France is very alive as an experience inside of me. Maybe it is what led me to the use of fluorescent colors in my paintings.”
