A timelapse video of One World Trade Center being constructed from 2004-2012

On April 30, 2012, One World Trade Center – also called 1 WTC or the Freedom Tower – became the tallest building in New York City, surpassing the height of the Empire State Building. Next spring (2013) it will open to the public as the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere, with its spire reaching 1,776 feet in symbolic reference to the year of American independence.

In honor of 1 WTC becoming the tallest building in New York, EarthCam just released a time-lapse movie showing the construction process from 2004-2012. Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, watch as the new World Trade Center emerges in just two minutes! Hurrah!
