Finnish land artist Jaakko Pernu creates stunning sculptural land works in his Timberline series. Created with wood, usually willow branches, these large-scale pieces alter the spaces they inhabit, as well as bring out an absurdist element by mimicking shapes which are uncommonly found in the environments they are placed – a stylized 25 foot tall acorn lying on the sidewalk in a city, a 40 foot tall chair sitting in nature. The artist says of his work: “My theme is the influence of humans on nature – the influence of nature on humans.”
