Kirsten Hassenfeld creates installations chock-full of translucent jeweled sculptures. Using vellum, Hassenfeld cuts, folds, and glues these fragile gem-like crystals. At the center of some of the suspended structures, the artist places a large embellished illuminated element which makes the piece appear to be sprouting crystalline monoliths. Lovely!
