Black and white photographs of mega-cities by Martin Stavars

Myeongdong Neons, Study 1, Seoul, South Korea, 2011

Having lived around medium-sized cities in the USA all of my life, I have a hard time fathoming life in one of the world’s megacities of 20 million+ residents. Polish born photographer Martin Stavars manages to fill the voids in my imagination by capturing the overflowing urban structures and visual chaos as well as the places within the madness that remain serene. Here is a selection of photos from his two most recent series: “City of Fog (Chongqing)” and “Megalopolis: South Korea.”

Stavers currently has a solo exhibition at the Prospero Gallery in Lublin, Poland showing through July 21, 2012.
