The things people carve from food: typography and skulls

Lately I’ve run into a lot of artists and designers who use food as their medium. Here are two of the my favorites:

1. Barcelona-based artist Nuria Bringué Bergua carves food into typographical letters. The artist is presenting this work in a typography book on healthy eating called Food Type. Incidentally, none of the letters were retouched after photographing. (via)

2. Russian artist Dimitri Tsykalov created a series of skull sculptures out of fruits and vegetables. Check out his site to see much more food-themed sculpture work. (via)
