Riding the San Francisco subway (or BART, as it is known to those in the Bay Area), I usually count more people using e-readers than reading actual books. So, being a book lover, these photos from the Underground New York Public Library make be happy.
Created by New York City based artist Ourit Ben-Haim, this on-going photo series features people reading on the NYC subway system, some on moving trains, others on the platforms waiting for the trains. “This library (photo series) freely lends out a reminder that we’re capable of traveling to great depths within ourselves and as a whole… I’m fascinated by how we apply ourselves to stories and discourse. In so doing, we shape who we understand ourselves to be.” says Ourit.
