Drawings on sewn paper by Raymond Saá

Screen shot 2013-03-14 at 11.07.45 AM

Untitled, 2010, ink on sewn paper, 29 x 31″

New York based multidisciplinary artist Raymond Saá creates drawings on paper, cuts them up and then sews the pieces of paper together. Using charcoal and ink, Saá draws plants and fruits from his native country Cuba. The dramatic black and white along with the disjointed imagery reflect the dislocation that first generation immigrants experience when transplanted to a new culture. Exquisite!
