Today I am admiring the 360° book by Germany based architect Yusuke Oono. The book’s laser-cut pages tell the story of a “Snow White”-type fairy tale complete with a princess-figure, dwarfs, a witch holding up an apple, and an assortment of animals in a forest setting. Oono is a graphic designer, architect and product designer based in Japan. Check out her web page (in Japanese only) here.
The 360° flipbook was a top winner in the recent Fab Cafe laser cutter design contest. When speaking about the book, the artist said, ” I like finding new ways to express dimension, and it occurred to me to create this palm-sized book that opens out to form a 3D world. I hope that everyone who opens the book enjoys it and is surprised by how the closed book dramatically transforms into a diorama.”
