Designer/Illustrator Hine Mizushima pushes the traditional craft of felting into the realm of the spiritual, the anatomical and the entomological. A woman with a pet walrus shows off her her anatomical parts. A paranormal form of ectoplasm is captured in a test tube. Giant Daphnias (freshwater crustaceans) thrash about in a cardboard box. This was all part of “The Unnatural History Museum“ an exhibit at Gallery Hanahou in New York, NY (March 2011). Besides making humorous felt creations, the Japan-born Vancouver, Canada resident is also an illustrator and puppet stop-motion video artist. You can see more of her creations on her Etsy shop.
