Works composed of feathers by Xenia Zampolli

Upon first glance, I thought these were close-up shots of flowers – maybe a chrysanthemum? Nope. They are feather arrangements! For the past 5 years, Los Angeles based artist Xenia Zampolli has been experimenting with feathers to create different textures and color combinations. On her website, she writes, “I use feathers to emphasize the image’s pure visual presence, rather than focusing on the personal creative act of painting. The images that transpire through the spiritual silence of meditation are the ones I base my work on. These repressed emotions usually emerge in the form of  “bursts” and in circular patterns.”
