Remember the punk-rock aesthetic of the 1970s? It started with the Sex Pistols’ bassist Sid Vicious using safety pins, then evolved to a movement whose members embraced body piercings and metal-studded accessories. Today that look has gone mainstream with anyone younger than 30 sporting tattoos as well as piercings in the most scary places.
Artist Scott Young recently released a series of photographs showing common fruits and vegetables adorned with the metal studs and spikes. It is fascinating how common-place edibles can so easily be transformed into an object of street fashion and even danger. See more of Young’s work on his tumblr site.
